Ceramic Coating Instructions:

There are a few important things to note with your vehicle, both during the curing period and in general:

– For ceramic coating aftercare, we recommend and use Americana Global Rinseless Wash Concentrate. We buy this in bulk gallon containers and dilute to the appropriate ratio. You can buy a gallon and dilute it for quite a long time. It’s very long-lasting. Again, don’t forget to contact us for your 10% off coupon.

– The biggest concern is automatic car washes! The brushes from these washes will void your Ceramic Pro warranty. We did not realize the extent that automatic car washes were used in Copperas Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights, and Belton/Temple. So many of our clients have Mister Car Wash or Today’s Car Wash stickers or similar subscription-based washes on their windshield. We pass no judgement here at Harker Heights Ceramic Coatings, but we must implore you to stop them, as you are spending far too much money to set your vehicle’s paint back! There are many factors, but they can damage your paint, and then fixing your paint will remove more clearcoat, which will shorten the longevity of it.

– Your vehicle can get wet after the first 24 hours. If it is leaving our shop in Harker Heights it almost always has the 24-hour cure period already completed, unless we have discussed otherwise. If we are mobile at your location, it is imperative to not get the vehicle wet for 24 hours after we leave.

– After the initial 24 hours, the ceramic is curing for the next couple weeks (based on humidity and other factors). So we don’t want any aggressive typical washing. We will demonstrate how to waterless wash, gently, using our Ceramic Pro microfiber towels. You can buy some from us, as we sell them for Ceramic Pro at our shop at cost to you as a convenience.

– Avoid parking the vehicle under sprinklers (this really applies to any time, as hard water drying in the Texas sun can leave water spots in your paint, but especially during this time). Consider consulting with a water sprinkler specialist in your area to adjust your spray pattern if needed.

– Immediately, but gently, remove any bird droppings or bug guts from the vehicle during the curing period. You can do this with waterless wash or a 50/50 alcohol/water mix.

– Also avoid tree sap, so stay away from trees!

– Remember that any time you touch the paint on your vehicle, you are risking scratching the finish. If you remember that, you will go a long way in protecting the paint for years to come!

– Never mix towels from wheels/brakes with the rest of the paint to avoid contamination.

– You never need to wax again! Wax is an inferior product to ceramic, so while applying wax (at a car wash or with any car wash products) won’t harm the ceramic coating, it will mask a superior product!

We know that sounds like a lot of no-nos, but the long-term benefits outweigh the short-term avoidances. Ceramic Pro’s aftercare section of the website (https://ceramicpro.com/aftercare/) states:

The coating can help prevent your clear coat from water spots as it is hydrophobic. Ceramic Pro however is not bullet proof and can still get hard water spots. The coating is less likely to etch than your factory clear, but it can especially get water spots during the curing process and can be costly to remove.”

Ceramic Coated Wheel Instructions:

To care for your ceramic coated wheels, the key to understand is that they must be cool to the touch and out of direct sunlight. We use, and suggest, Americana Global Wheel and Tire Cleaner. Don’t forget to get your 10% off coupon from us. While you’re there, don’t hesitate to check out Americana Global Tire & Trim Conditioner

Paint Protection Film / Clear Bra Aftercare Instructions:

Paint protection film, clear bra, PPF – they’re all the same! Paint protection film should not be washed for five days. The clear bra will be drying over the next few weeks, and during this time you may see water or other spots drying. Do not hesitate to contact us with any issues.

For any other washing once the vehicle is dried and cured, simply ensure you keep any pressure washers away three feet away from the PPF. You can also use Americana Global Rinseless Wash Concentrate for paint protection film, as well.

Waterless / Rinseless Wash Methods:

We copied instructions from Autogeek on how to waterless / rinseless wash:

Using a Waterless Wash

  1. Fold your towel so there are 8 usable sides.
  2. Starting at the top of the vehicle (the cleanest part), spray a panel generously with your waterless wash. The size of the panel depends on how large an area you can spray and wipe dry before it dries on its own. Generally speaking, half the roof or half the hood is a good size section.
  3. Wipe lightly in one direction. There’s no need to apply significant pressure and doing so can result in micro scratches. Note: If you wipe in a circular motion, you’re wiping the dirt you’ve just removed back over the section you’ve just cleaned. It’s counterproductive.
  4. As you’re wiping, pay attention to the cleanliness of the towel. When one side becomes soiled, switch to a new side of the towel. Remember, you’ve got 8 sides to work with and hopefully some extra towels, too.
  5. Wipe the section completely dry and move on to the next section

Slicing your car up into sections.

Here’s a suggestion for slicing up the car into sections when washing with a Waterless Car Wash. I start at the top like most of you but add a twist…

  1. Roof
  2. Side Glass
  3. Horizontal Panels like the Hood and Trunk lid
  4. Vertical Panels – But only the upper portions as these tend to be cleaner than the lower portions
  5. Front Bumpers and Grills
  6. Rear Bumpers and Rear Vertical Panels like you find on SUV’s, some passenger cars or for example, the tailgates on trucks
  7. Lower Vertical Panels – Now do the lower portions of the vertical panels, these are the dirtiest sections.

Lastly, the wheelsImportant! Do not use the same towel to detail your wheels that you use on your paint! The wheels are covered in brake dust and you cannot risk transferring it back to the paint finish. Designate towels just for wheels.
