Professional Paint Enhancement/Correction Services

Primarily serving Copperas Cove/Killeen/Fort Hood/Harker Heights areas

Paint enhancement, also known as paint correction, polishing, compounding, buffing, cutting and buffing – and more broadly, as a subset of auto detailing, is the process of removing swirls, scratches, holograms, marring, and other defects from your vehicle’s clear coat (paint) using various chemicals and a machine polisher.  Frequently conducted before ceramic coating (but not clear bra/paint protection film)

Even brand-new vehicles off of the lot will often have imperfections in the paint. Some, as we discussed in another question and answer, are actual paint or body defects from the factory (we have seen painted-over fuzz, bubbling, denting, dinging, scratching, lack of paint – you name it). Other issues usually revolve around improper washing techniques at the dealership, or people rubbing up against and scratching the paint (especially if the vehicle is kept in a high-traffic area, such as the dealership showroom).

For people not buying a vehicle brand new, or perhaps they have owned their car for a short while, this is usually needed after some time of washing, and having the vehicle being exposed to the elements. Over time, vehicles will get scuffed and scratched, and the shiny new paint is now duller and swirled paint.

"The service provided far exceeded my expectations from the beginning to end. I took my Kia Telluride to Matt for a ceramic coating and was extremely happy with the results. What I was most impressed with is the professionalism. Matt took the time to explain the details of the ceramic process and differences in the packages. He is very honest in his assessment of the vehicles paint condition and did not try to up sale me on the packages. He kept me updated on each phase of the process with pictures along the way. Once I picked up my vehicle he did a good job of explaining and demonstrating how to care for a ceramic coated vehicle. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting their car/truck ceramic coated or detailed."

Ron - Killeen, Texas

"I had Matthew come down to Austin from Harker Heights (1 hour drive) to do a paint correction and ceramic coating on my 2008 Corvette. He did an AMAZING job and the Ceramic Pro he put on my car makes it look 1000% better! I had some oxidation on a couple parts and alot of dirt embedded in the paint because I used to have to drive on a dirt road everyday with it. The car now looks like shes never seen dirt before. The difference between what I gave him and what he returned to me is night and day. He also has really amazing prices. You will definitely get more than you are paying for if you choose to give Matthew your business. I'll definitely be coming back."

Nick - Austin, Texas

"Matthew turned my daily driver that I thought was beyond help into something I barely even want to drive anymore it’s so nice looking. The paint correction and ceramic coating he did was perfect. It looks so good I might try to sell it to Carvana in this market. You wouldn’t know this car has sat outside in direct sunlight /Uv damage for 7+ years ever since I bought it from its original owner, and it looks like there’s a fresh new coat of paint on it , it’s crazy how good it came out."

Gorge - Harker Heights, Texas

"Thank you so much Matthew! When I dropped the car off the paint looked awful, it was full of scratches and bugs that wouldn’t come off. Matthew didn’t rush and treated me like family and my car like it was his own! On the day of pick up my car looked brand new! Harker Heights Ceramic Coatings made the process extremely easy and affordable. I cannot recommend Matthew enough. If you want your car to look brand new and have the best service possible - hit him up!"

Josh - Killeen, Texas

Part 1: What is paint enhancement?

Paint enhancement is most commonly used in auto detailing to restore the shine of the paint using (typically) a machine polisher, polishing pads, and either polish or compound and polish. Compound and polish are both gritty substances that clean the surfaces by abrading the surface, even if ever-so-slightly. Think of it like toothpaste – toothpaste is a gritty substance that cleans your teeth and makes them shine in a much similar manner.

Compound is a heavier grit substance, and polish is finer. They are often used interchangeably, but sometimes just one, or both, or more than one type of each is needed.

You can polish some things by hand, but larger defects will require a machine. We primarily use Flex cordless polishers at Harker Heights Ceramic Coatings. Other brands you might have heard about are Rupes, DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, and more.

We use these machines, polishing/cutting pads, and product (compound/polish) to reduce or eliminate scratches, swirls, and other defects, and return your car or truck to its original (or near original) shine.

Part 2: What is paint enhancement NOT?

Sometimes, when clients see “paint correction” listed as a service, they assume it is the process of fixing rock chips, dings, dents, hail damage, or altogether repainting. Unfortunately, we do not perform any of those services.

Part 3: Can you remove all defects during paint enhancement?

The answer is really – it depends. It depends on the depth of the defect/scratch/swirl, how much clear coat is left that we can polish/compound, and a lot of other factors.

Part 4: Why choose a professional at to install your ceramic coating?

  1. The difference between DIY ceramic coating and professional coating is typically the longevity and durability. This comes at a cost of ease-of-installation, however. With a professional ceramic coating, the coating may flash quicker, or in some cases, may not be obvious that it is ready to be wiped (no rainbow). Since coatings are semi-permanent (they chemically bond to your car’s paint), this can be an issue. At this point, you would need a polisher and/or paint correction / paint enhancement to remove what we call “high spots” (spots that were excess material not wiped off in time). We have a climate-controlled shop which increases the amount of time we have to work with a ceramic coating before it flashes, which leads to less rushing and less mistakes.

  1. Equipment, experience, and preparedness. A ceramic coating from Amazon is not that expensive. However, you start adding up the cost of quality applicators, machine polishers if there are mistakes, or if you want to polish / conduct paint enhancement, before coating, quality surface solvent prep solutions prior to applying the coating, clay bar and clay bar lubrication solutions, good leveling towels, painters tape to tape off areas you don’t want to hit with the polisher – the list goes on and on. A professional has all of these things and uses them regularly.

  1. Time. Time is money, and time is valuable. We all work so much these days, we sit in traffic going to and from work if you aren’t telecommuting from home in Killeen/Fort Hood or surrounding areas, etc. Why not drop it off to us and pick it up complete?

  1. Warranty. We will be your point of contact for any issues you might have with your ceramic coating (or clear bra). So if you ever have an issue, you just contact us – rather than trying to fix yourself and spend more money.

PAINT ENHANCEMENT PACKAGES:

PAINT ENHANCEMENT PACKAGES:

$500

We conduct a one-step paint enhancement to remove minor imperfections. This is most suitable with some light washing marks or when you want to enhance the shine of your paint. This is typically not suitable for removing heavier scratches, swirls from automatic car washes, etc.

$1000

We conduct a two or more step paint enhancement/correction to remove MOST imperfections. We can typically remove most major marks, unless they have etched through the clearcoat, or are deep enough that you can feel with your fingernail. In those cases, we can often lessen them if we cannot remove them.

1: We have an amazing little shop.

1: We have an amazing little shop.

It might be small, but it is incredibly clean, and organized, and has all of the tools we need to succeed to create an amazing clear bra or ceramic coating installation on your vehicle. The entire shop is filled with top-of-the-line equipment and materials, with no expenses spared. You will find brands such as Flex, Meguiar’s, Legend, STEK, SB3, Ceramic Pro, System X, Lake Country, Autofiber, ScanGrip, Americana Global, Deaddog, P&S, and much more. You can see a tour here:

2: We are insured, registered, certified, and protected

2. We are insured, registered, certified, and protected

From the moment your vehicle gets here, we have you covered under our insurance. And that goes for driving your vehicle from the Austin area up to the Killeen area (we have delivered vehicles from Copperas Cove to Temple, and beyond), or just having it at our shop in Harker Heights.

We have requested permission from, and have been granted the license to operate our business as a home business in the City of Harker Heights by the planning and zoning commission, as well as the city council.

HHCC has received certifications from many different professional brands. We started with Ceramic Pro ceramic coatings and eventually attended Ceramic Pro Kavaca Paint Protection Film (clear bra) training in San Diego, California. However, we have since added many other brands, from Legend Paint Protection Films, to Global Films and STEK clear bra, to System X and SB3 ceramic coatings, amongst others. We have completed advanced training with Auto Film Mastery in Houston, Texas, and attended several of their workshops. We maintain professional relationships with many ceramic coating and paint protection film/clear bra manufacturers within the industry. We regularly consult with actual former product developers from Meguiar’s compounds and polishes, which allows us to stay abreast on paint enhancement/paint correction topics.

Our shop is protected 24/7 by video recordings from multiple angles, both inside and out, stored on a hard drive and in the cloud.

3: We are dedicated to your satisfaction.

3. We are dedicated to your satisfaction.

Due to the fact that we are a small shop, our attention is always focused on only your vehicle. We are owner-operated, as well. There are many shops that have many good clear bra installers, but there are also shops where sometimes the clear bra installer working on your car might be hit or miss. We are proud of the fact that we amassed so many reviews for auto detailing, paint correction/paint enhancement, ceramic coating, and clear bra/paint protection film in such a short period of time.

4: Your car doesn't disappear into a black hole.

4. Your car doesn't disappear into a black hole.

With Harker Heights Ceramic Coatings, we remain in constant communication with you with pictures and video of the various steps along the way. We are able to accomplish this without sacrificing quality of work, because we don’t have a ton of vehicles lined up getting clear bra or ceramic coating behind you – only one at a time. We adopted this method of communication after experiencing so many situations where a car is turned in for paint, or modifications, or some other work, and it just shows up done and they call you. If you like that, we will absolutely abide by that method, but, in our experience, you’re spending a lot of money and would like to know that your car is being cared for, and where we are in the process. You should never have to call to ask for an update!

5: We are Texans, and we are here to stay.

5. We are Texans, and we are here to stay.

We know that the Killeen/Fort Hood/Copperas Cove/Harker Heights areas are heavily in flux with military coming and going, but this was our final duty station after 22 years, and we intend to stay here for life. We like to contribute to the community, and we have participated in fundraising events for the Killeen Police Department, we try to raise money for pet adoption centers in town (like Humane Heroes in Killeen or the Harker Heights Pet Adoption Center), and we own our home and business here.

6: We are competitively priced.

6: We are competitively priced.

We lack the same overhead and payroll that many larger shops have, and we have 55 solar panels on our roof to power the home and shop, so we are able to price ourselves accordingly while still offering quality clear bra and ceramic coating installs.

7: We know you have the choice.

7. We know you have the choice.

You can choose between so many options to have your vehicle get clear bra/paint protection film or ceramic coating, and what makes us different is we treat you like family.

Matthew and Patricia love this line of work and making clients happy, and have plenty of time to space out clients so there is no rushed or unfinished jobs. With HHCC, you and your vehicle are always our top priority. Some larger shops are pumping out ceramic coatings without the installers even meeting the clients, but with Harker Heights Ceramic Coatings we call ourselves a family.
