The owners of this brand new Dodge Durango SRT drove to us from Killeen/Harker Heights area to get this vehicle protected by clear bra/paint protection film (PPF) as soon as they bought it. 

If you aren’t familiar with the Dodge Durango SRTs, many of them come with dealer-installed options of racing stripes. In this case, the clients really weren’t a huge fan of the stripes, which were matte in color. Initially, they were thinking about removing the vinyl stripes, but then they began to grow on them.

However, they preferred if the stripes were gloss black instead of the matte black vinyl stripes it came with. 

We started this job by installing a clear bra/paint protection film/PPF “track package” (mirrors, fenders, hood, front bumper, rocker panels, leading edge of the roof and leading edge of the A-pillars, all covered in PPF/paint protection film). 

In the next step, we removed the clear bra/PPF from the matte stripes, as they are textured and the paint protection film will have a bunch of tiny air pockets that look bad when installed over it. Next, we contacted our reps at STEK paint protection films, and ordered a large roll of gloss black (dynoBLACK) STEK film to redo the vinyl racing stripes, but with the level of protection that paint protection film provides (remember from our frequently asked questions that vinyl wrap provides almost no protection against rock chips and damage, unlike clear bra – and in fact, one of the issues the clients had was that there was already a nick in the front of the vinyl stripes).

This required a lot of custom cutting on our Graphtec plotter, trimming, and maneuvering to get the clear bra to look right (the vinyl racing stripes LOOK as though they are straight, but they are actually slightly wider or thinner at certain points).
