2018 Infiniti Q50 Ceramic Coating and Polishing

2018 Infiniti Q50 Ceramic Coating and Polishing process in Copperas Cove/Killeen/Harker Heights

This 2018 Infiniti Q50 ceramic coating project began with a call from a body shop doing warranty work their client after they had a large portion of their vehicle repainted after a rock truck dumped rocks all over the road. We coordinate with local body shops frequently, which this was no exception. We started off by polishing his hood, which had some swirls and sanding marks left from the body shop. This is not a negative on the body shop, they do one type of work and we do another. Most body shops you can think of as buying a built house. The house is going to be mostly finished but you might want to repaint some rooms or finish off the garage. We often refine paint work by putting that finishing touch polish on the paint.

After polishing this 2018 Infiniti Q50 ceramic coating project, we installed a five-year ceramic coating with extreme hydrophobic and glossy properties. This makes it so much easier to remove bug guts, clean road grime, and remove brake dust (we also coated the wheel faces and windshield). On white vehicles, it’s harder to see swirls and marks, but once polished, you can definitely notice a difference in overall gloss and appearance. Our Copperas Cove/Killeen/Harker Heights 2018 Infiniti Q50 owner will enjoy this ceramic coating for five years, and how easy it is to clean!

Typically, we would use Autobahn, STEK clear bra, Llumar, or Legend PPF gloss or matte paint protection film. Next, This clear bra article covers the major differences between clear bra/paint protection film/PPF companies, if any. Moreover, there are minimal differences between major film manufacturers like Autobahn, Xpel, SunTek, Eastman, Llumar, 3M, STEK clear bra, Flexishield, Global, Legend, and more. Importantly, the key takeaway is that the primary differences are in the properties of the adhesive, which installers have to deal with, but generally don’t affect anything the client sees.

Is Autobahn clear bra/paint protection film/PPF the same as Xpel film?

Of course, our clients at HHCC frequently ask about Xpel clear bra/paint protection film. Naturally, our clients want to know if Autobahn, Legend PPF, STEK, Llumar, Kavaca, and other brands compares to Xpel at all. Did you know, a lot of people use Xpel to mean clear bra, because Xpel is one of the most popular brands? Besides the information above about clear bra/PPF, we also discuss Xpel and if it’s the same as PPF/clear bra in this article.

2018 Infiniti Q50 Ceramic Coating and Polishing process - Copperas Cove/Killeen/Harker Heights

Polishing a car after painting serves several important purposes in the automotive finishing process. It is a critical step that helps achieve a smooth, glossy, and flawless finish on the newly painted surface. Here are the key reasons why polishing is performed after painting a car:

  1. Removal of Imperfections: Even with careful painting techniques, imperfections such as dust particles, orange peel texture, and minor surface blemishes can occur during the paint application process. Polishing helps eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a smoother and more uniform surface.

  2. Enhancement of Gloss and Depth: Polishing the painted surface brings out the paint’s true color, depth, and gloss. It creates a reflective surface that showcases the richness of the paint and gives the car a showroom-quality finish.

  3. Smooth and Uniform Texture: Polishing helps level the surface of the paint, reducing any unevenness or texture discrepancies that might have occurred during painting. This results in a silky-smooth finish that feels uniform to the touch.

  4. Preparation for Protective Coatings: After polishing, the paint surface is in an optimal condition to receive protective coatings such as wax, sealants, or ceramic coatings. These coatings adhere better to a polished surface, enhancing their effectiveness in protecting the paint from environmental elements.

  5. Final Finishing Touch: Polishing is the last step in the paint correction process, ensuring that the car’s appearance meets high-quality standards. It is a crucial stage in achieving a flawless and professional finish that is visually appealing.

  6. Professional Detailing: Polishing is often performed by skilled detailing professionals who have the expertise to assess and correct any paint imperfections. Their experience and tools help achieve the best possible finish, making the car look its best.

  7. Resale and Aesthetic Value: A well-polished and flawless paint finish enhances the car’s resale value and overall aesthetic appeal. Potential buyers are often attracted to vehicles that have been meticulously detailed and have a showroom-worthy appearance.

It’s important to note that polishing should be carried out carefully and with the appropriate tools and techniques to avoid damaging the paint. Over-polishing or using improper methods can lead to excessive paint removal, which can negatively impact the paint’s longevity and appearance. Therefore, it’s recommended to have the polishing process performed by professionals who are experienced in automotive detailing to achieve the desired results while preserving the integrity of the paint.
